Vacheron Constantin Quai de l’Ile Retrograde Annual Calendar
Of course, this new watch – debuting officially at the Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie in January 2011 – is a wonder of time in a cushion-shaped 43mm pink or white gold (or two-tone pink-and-white gold) but it is much more.
To start with, the in-house automatic calibre 2460QRA delivers the date (via a retrograde display at 3 o’clock), month (subdial between 6 and 7 o’clock) and moonphase (subdial at 9 o’clock pulling double duty and providing the small seconds as well). The movement follows the Vacheron Constantin standard and has earned the Poincon de Geneve stamp of excellence.
As you might expect, the dial also expresses fine finishing touches, altogether different from the 2008 models. Scan the dial and you will see both vertical and circular satin finishing as well as opaline finishing. What you will not see, if you’re an astute observer of Vacheron Constantin’s watches, is the clever security measures that are synonymous with the Quai de l’Ile collection. This time, the brand has executed this measure in a disc between 4 and 5 o’clock, which is visible only under ultra-violet light.
