Omega Planet Ocean....yahoooooo
I have been searching for an Omega Planet Ocean 2201.50 (42mm) for a while now. One came up for sale last week at a fantastic price and I snapped it up!! The watch is in nearly new condition, included all of the goodies/paperwork PLUS an Omega mesh bracelet. I must say, Fred (Popeye on several forums) is a pleasure to work with, honest in his description of the watch and his shipment was super fast.
My initial impression of the watch is HOLY CRAP. I have two other Omegas and am familiar with the quality, but this thing is a tank! The fit and finish are excellent!!
Model number: 2201.50.00
Case diameter: 42 millimeters
Case Thickness: 14 millimeters
Crystal: Saphire with anti-reflective coating
Band material: Stainless-steel
Band width: 20 millimeters
Here are a few pictures of the watch as well as a few of my SMP 2254 with the PO for comparison purposes:
Here are a few comparison shots of the SMP and PO:
When I was thinking about buying a PO, I hesitated because I thought that it may be too close in design and function to my Seamaster Professional. Thankfully, they are two very different animals! The SMP wears closer to the wrist, but wears a little larger than the PO because of its case shape IMO. The PO is quite a bit taller than the SMP, which IMO makes it a more casual watch. The bezels shape as well as the crown size on these two watches is also quite different. I consider the SMP a dressy diver and the PO more of a tool dive watch.
Specifications on SMP:
Model Number: 2254.50.00
Case diameter: 41 millimeters
Case Thickness: 12 millimeters
Crystal: Saphire with anti-reflective coating
Band material: Stainless-steel
Band width: 20 millimeters
Overall, I am extremely happy with my purchase!!

Well if you'd have asked everyone we could have helped you make the XTREME decision. We'd be happy to stroke your ego after you bought it.

No, not at all. I was just tired and rushed.
I think I told you that I have been strangely drawn to the 42mm model with Orange #s but black bezel. Its weird but I keep looking at that one. Glad you got a piece in such good shape at a bargain. I saw Popeys post at DWC and thought it was a great deal.
