In the 1950s Longines supplied watches to the Swiss national airline, Swissair. These timepieces, developed specifically for aviators, had a distinctive 24-hour dial. This feature met the needs of navigators who, at the time, had to determine the position of the aircraft and set up a flight plan. Longines will re-issue this watch with the official launch at Baselworld 2011. The new version has been given the name Longines Twenty-Four Hours.

Large watch! Typical though of the pilot type. I like the push button and the flip-open case back. Had a 24 hour watch once....liked the look, just couldn't tell time at a glance after 12 noon!

They do take some getting used to and even then its not intuitive for 95+% of people to read them. They're useful if you're underground for long periods (like in a MM silo) but other than that I find them oddities personally. Nice looking one though IMHO.

Longines, you have done it again sir ! THIS strap is simply TOO COOL as you said !!! What
a GREAT addition to your collection. It fits right in with your other uniquely cool watches,
and mixes ALL of the elements together flawlessly. From AWESOME looks, to that exceptional
comfort mentioned. This is DEFINITELY one to dig here ! Even the box that
the watchstrap comes in is phenomenal. Holy COW ! ... It's always amazing to see those
patented squares of gator skin. The three dimensional look of them as they rise is
epic...
